Discover the spectacular beauty of a Sinai canyon and lush green oasis on a full-day camel safari. Experience a camel ride to the beginning of the stunning White Canyon, marvel at the dazzlingly bright sandstone and limestone canyon, and then walk to the Ain Khudra oasis, where you will enjoy a Bedouin lunch.
Beginning as just a crack at the edge of a sand plateau, the White Canyon is a narrow sandstone canyon that opens to a wider wadi and continues on to the lush oasis of Ain Khudra. Experience the stunning natural beauty of this area on a full-day camel safari. The brilliant white color of the canyon comes from the limestone that is part of its makeup. Be sure to wear sunglasses to avoid damage to your eyes, as the reflected light is incredibly strong.
You will start out at 08:00 on an hour’s drive from Dahab and then ride on the back of a camel for a half hour to the entrance of the White Canyon. At this point you will dismount and walk through the canyon with your guide, ending up at the Ain Khudra oasis, where you will enjoy a Bedouin lunch. Ain Khudra, which means green spring, is a picturesque oasis of gardens and date palms, encircled by mountains and steep vertical cliffs. There are also springs here that sustain the gardens. One of the springs is in a small cave, and another flows from a fountain. You’ll also see ruins of archaeological interest in the area.
After lunch, you will take a 45-minute camel ride to the Rock of Inscriptions, and then head back to the car for the return ride to Dahab.
